Raymond A. Kang

Raymond is the founder of Prodigy Capital Management, LLC, an asset management firm composed of two Prodigy Partners Funds which invest in well established and emerging global managers in major hedge fund strategies. Through his vast global network in the alternative investment industry, he established a strong relationship with institutional investors, sovereign funds, government officials, and top-tier global hedge fund managers, especially in Asia.

Prior to his position as portfolio manager, Raymond was a founder of Prodigy Venture, LLC, a cross-border venture capital firm that invested in late stage and pre-IPO companies, ultimately leading to successful exit via M&A, buyouts and IPOs. Prior to Prodigy Venture, he was founder of eTonerExpress.com Inc., B2B eCommerce Marketplace company for remanufactured laser toner cartridges. In June 1998, he co-founded Deli-Togo.com, B2C eCommerce based deli food service co. which he developed and implemented the business model and launched in New York. He sold his ownership interest to the Company in Dec. 1999.

Prior to getting involved with internet ventures, Raymond enjoyed a distinguished career as a marketing director for several prominent international marketing and advertising agencies for over 15 years. He has worked for such agencies as Ogilvy & Mather, Foote Cone Belding, Thomas G. Ferguson (division of WPP group), and BBD&O among many others. He has worked on such accounts as American Express, Duracell, IBM, R.J. Reynolds, Procter & Gamble and many more. Since opening his own Notorious Advertising Inc. in 1993, he has successfully serviced recognizable national accounts such as The United States Postal Service, Apple Computer, AVON, Amore Pacific Cosmetics, Daewoo Group, KIA Intertrade, AT&T, Parke Davis, and LG Industrial Systems.

Raymond is a co-director of the Korea-Chapter at the Hedge Fund Association (HFA), one of the founding
member and a chairman of INKE (Int’l Network of Korean Entrepreneurs) NY Chapter, and one of the founding member of KASE-NY Chapter (Korean American Society of Entrepreneurs). He is also a member of National Venture Capital Association (NVCA), New York Venture Group. He is a strategic partners of VC Experts, PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC) VC Network, TriState Ventures, New York Biotechnology Association (NYBA), Biotech Council of New Jersey, New York Technology Council (NYTECH), New York City EDC (Economic Development Corporation), New Jersey Commerce, and New Jersey EDA (Economic Development Authority).
He holds a BA and master’s degree in Marketing Communication at the University of Maryland and a BFA at SUNY (State University of New York).
